co:census welcomes Timothy Bardlavens, Product Inclusion Exec, to the Board

January 23, 2024. Timothy Bardlavens joins the co:census board to guide executive leadership in their company mission to challenge the status quo of design.

Tiasia O’Brien, Founder & President of co:census, along with the current board members welcome Timothy Bardlavens to their governance team in 2024: “As a company centered on challenging the status quo, we have sought ways to ‘rebel against the system, whether it is through our intentional decision not to use titles with “Chief”, our approach to AI development, or our commitment to designing an equitable product. Equity & Inclusion is a process steeped with learning & growth, and we have so much to learn as our company matures”.

As a product executive, Bardlavens’ bio reads: “Timothy is chaotic good. He is a Gay, Black man from the Carolinas, a highly regarded social intrapreneur, and an advocate for equity in technology and design. For more than a decade, Timothy has dedicated his career to dismantling systemic barriers, building and scaling teams, and launching innovative digital products for companies like Microsoft, Meta (formerly Facebook), and Adobe, delivering more useful, impactful, and equitable experiences for billions of people globally. He is a Product Executive, Cultural Strategist, Diversity, Equity, and Justice expert, Co-Founder, Writer, and International Speaker and Facilitator.”

With Timothy’s expertise, executive leadership plans to refine the business solution to truly achieve the company’s vision of culturally competent design. co:census launched in 2020, after two years of  R&D led by founder, Tiasia O’Brien. After raising a pre-seed round in 2020 and a seed round in 2022 of $1.6M, this additional investment ensures the company can sustain its growth in the coming months.
